Foot brake as handbrake

    It seems to me that I read somewhere that the foot brake can be modified to be manual with the DCT version. Did anyone have any knowledge about this or I am poorly informed.

    I dunno if there is a ready made solution on hand but I'd basically say pretty much anything can be modified to personal taste or needs.

    soweit mir bekannt gibt es für die Automatikversion keine andere Möglichkeit und glaube auch nicht das irgendein Hersteller für das Auslaufmodell solche Teile verkauft.

    Außerdem kann ich mir den Aufwand nicht so einfach vorstellen den die Originale Bremse ist eine ABS Hydraulische Bremse und da eine Feststellbremse einzubauen ist mit Sicherheit nicht so einfach zu bewerkstelligen. Mir ist auch der Vorteil zu diesem Umbau nicht Sinnvoll und was ist da besser als die vorhandene? Uns was sagt die Betriebserlaubnis und der TÜV dazu?

    Wird die Handbremse nach Reparatur-Buch eingestellt und die Bremsbeläge in Ordnung. ist die doch gut zu gebrauchen.

    Speziallösungen gibt es meistens bei körperlichen Einschränkungen.


    Andere Fragen aus der Ecke sind oft aus Bequemlichkeit. Dann ist immer zentral: wie leicht umbaubar? da vor dem Tüv nicht nach dem Tüv ist.


    Aufwand ist relativ. Wer auf Speziallösungen angewiesen ist kennt leider fast nix Anderes als die Marke "Kompliziert & Teuer".

    I have seen such a customization for a few Africa Twins. Actually it was not to replace the foot brake pedal by a hand brake lever but to have the hand brake in addition to the foot brake. It was a highly sophisticated solution where the brake cylinder of the foot brake was modified to accept the brake line of the additional hand brake. As it interferes with the structure of the brake cylinder, it would not be legal by any means in the EU, but it was an interesting idea nonetheless. If you search the web, you will find a detailed explanation how it was done.


    Another option could be to customize the bike like for disabled riders. This would be much easier, you only need to take a left brake lever including the brake cylinder (from Forza or Integra or the like) and to install a brake line to the ABS module. The foot brake including the pedal would then be removed completely. This should be feasible in the EU, but requires a special permit of the local vehicle registration authorities.
